  • 2. Rocks
    • A rock is a natural, solid mixture of particles mainly made of individual mineral crystals, broken bits of minerals, or fragments of rock.
  • 3. Igneous Rock
    • Magma deep in Earth cools slow
      • large crystals
    • Lava on Earth’s surface cools fast
      • small crystals
  • 4. Metamorphic Rock
    • Formed when solid rocks are squeezed (pressure) or heated.
      • New rock forms from old rock
      • Foliation- parallel bands of minerals form.
  • 5. Sedimentary Rocks
    • Formed when sediment (small pieces of rock) is compressed by the weight of the material above them.
