  2. 2. Childhood <ul><li>Was born to the Chief of a Shoshoni Indian Tribe. </li></ul><ul><li>At Age 12, She was kidnapped by the Hidatsa tribe. </li></ul><ul><li>She was later sold to Toussaint Charbonneau as his slave and wife. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Meeting Lewis and Clark <ul><li>Lewis and Clark needed a translator. That is where Charbonneau and Sacagawea come in handy. Sacagawea meets Lewis and Clark for the first time not knowing that her life is going to completely change. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Her Baby <ul><li>On February 11, 1805, Sacagawea gave birth to her only son. His name was Jean-Baptiste Charbonneau. She was in labor for only ten minutes. </li></ul>

Mysteries of Sacagawea <ul><li>Theory #1: </li></ul><ul><li>Sacagawea returns home and has another baby girl. </li></ul><ul><li>She soon after having her second child becomes very ill and dies from her sickness. </li></ul><ul><li>Theory #2: </li></ul><ul><li>She has her second child, a daughter. </li></ul><ul><li>She then leaves Charbonneau and returns to her Shoshoni village. </li></ul><ul><li>No one knows what happened to her after that, but the theory is she died of old age. </li></ul>
