  2. 2. Overview <ul><li>The Civil Rights Movement made great strides in the late 1950’s. Men and women like Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks were a big part of the movement. They contributed by protesting peacefully. This time period should not be forgotten but honored, by learning as much as we can and passing it along. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Classroom Task <ul><li>You will create a newspaper dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Your project must include all the sections of a newspaper… </li></ul><ul><li>Word puzzle </li></ul><ul><li>Obituaries </li></ul><ul><li>Advertisements </li></ul><ul><li>Classifieds </li></ul><ul><li>Newspaper name </li></ul><ul><li>Lead story. </li></ul><ul><li>Government Section </li></ul><ul><li>People Section </li></ul>

Sharing is not allowed. </li></ul><ul><li>Work quietly using six inch voices only. </li></ul><ul><li>Spanish is a forbidden language. </li></ul><ul><li>Remain seated at all times. </li></ul><ul><li>Work in progress must stay in the classroom. </li></ul><ul><li>Clean up your area before leaving the room. </li></ul>

Checklist <ul><li>I used my OWN words to write an article for each: Martin Luther King Jr ., Rosa Parks , and The Montgomery Bus Boycott . </li></ul><ul><li>I made sure I included and highlighted 5 vocabulary words in the newspaper. </li></ul><ul><li>I made sure I used and underlined at least 5 what kind adjectives. </li></ul><ul><li>I made sure to use each degree of comparison at least once. </li></ul><ul><li>All my sections reflect the topic. </li></ul><ul><li>I revised before making a final copy. </li></ul>
