Trying to Do Everything Yourself
Where do you find time to attend classes, read your assignments, study for exams, do research, and write papers? Before college your life was full with your spouse, kids, and home responsibilities, right? So, where does the time come from?
I've known students who only lasted a semester or two before they realized that they just didn't "have the time" to further their education. One problem was that they spent that time doing things they should have passed on to someone else to handle.
Trying to Do Everything You've always Done
If you are used to watching 4 hours of TV after dinner and want to continue that behavior then, sorry, you're simply not going to make it through college. There are going to be some activities that will have to go completely and some that simply need to be modified to accommodate the life of a nontraditional student.
Trying to Do Things the Old Way
The main thing I want to get across is that being a nontraditional student requires that changes be made in your lifestyle. Furthermore, a failure to make those changes will affect your success in college.
