Home Time Management Step 5: Put Your Plan into Action
Step 5 is the most important one in determining whether the change you seek will be fleeting or lasting. While the first 4 steps are really important, this last one is crucial.
I can think of at least 3 things that will help you put your plan into action.
• Make a Commitment to Action Each and Every Day
• Set Up Your Life to Encourage That Action
• Keep a Memento to Keep From Backsliding
Make a Commitment to Action Each and Every Day
Nothing happens… nothing changes… without full commitment. Otherwise, it's so easy to just keep pushing things aside and figure that you'll work on it tomorrow. You'll give it your full attention tomorrow. You'll focus better after vacation.
If you've made the commitment to clean out your guestroom so that you can actually have guests in there, then work on it 15 minutes at a time. Consistency will pay off big in the end.
Set Up Your Life to Encourage That Action
Whatever you're working on set yourself up for success by making it easy to DO that one single thing.
If you're a music lover then keep a radio in the room you're working on so it will help entice you in there. Pick a time when you have the time, energy, and can play your favorite music as loud as you like. Or when your favorite talk show is on.
Keep a Memento to Keep From Backsliding
It's important to me to exercise. In the last 2 years I've put on 60 pounds because I quit walking every day. I would just get so busy working and writing and creating trainings that I didn't make time for it.
I do now.
And I keep a picture that I HATE of me when I was at my largest. It stays in my purse and when I'm scheduling my week, it ensures that I schedule in exercise.
