    • Mount Olympus – highest moutain in Greece and home of 12 gods and goddesses, known as the Olympians
    • Delphi
      • city-state in ancient Greece, location of one of the most famous oracles of Apollo
  • People
    • Homer – poet who wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey
    • Aesop – Greek slave who made up fables
    • Sophocles – famous writer of tragedies, wrote Antigone and Oedipus Rex
    • Euripedes – other famous writer of tragedies
  • Terms
    • myth – traditional stories about gods and heroes
    • oracle – sacred shrine where a priest or priestess spoke for a god or goddess; typically answered questions with riddles
    • epic – long poems about heroic deeds
    • fable – a short tale that teaches a lesson
    • tragedy – a story in which a person
    • struggles to overcome difficulties but fails
    • comedy – a story that ends happily
      • Drama – story told by actors who pretend to be characters in the story
