Geography and climate <ul><li>Geography: </li></ul><ul><li>Alabama has got 5 different areas: the Highland Rim , the Cumberland Plateau , the Alabama Valley and Ridge , the Piedmont Upland and the East Gulf Coastal Plain . </li></ul><ul><li>Climate: </li></ul><ul><li>Alabama has got very hot summers and mild winters and abundant rainfalls. </li></ul>

History <ul><li>The first European settlement in Alabama was founded by the French in 1702. </li></ul><ul><li>The Confederacy was founded at Montgomery in February 1861. </li></ul><ul><li>In the 50s and 60s Alabama fought for the rights of black people. </li></ul><ul><li>In 2005 Alabama was damaged by the hurricane Katrina. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Economy <ul><li>Alabama’s most valuable agricultural product is cotton. </li></ul><ul><li>The Marshall Space Flight Center, the Redstone Arsenal, the Maxwell Air Force Base, and the Forts Rucker and McClellan are very good for Alabama’s economy. </li></ul>

Interesting places to visit <ul><li>In Alabama there are many places to visit: </li></ul><ul><li>- The Helen Keller birthplace. </li></ul><ul><li>- The White House of the Confederacy. </li></ul><ul><li>- The Civil Rights Memorial. </li></ul><ul><li>- The Russell cave. </li></ul><ul><li>- The Gulf State Park. </li></ul><ul><li>And other beautiful and scenic places and interesting museums. </li></ul>

NEW YORK <ul><li>New York is a state in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions of the United States and is the nation’s third most populous. </li></ul><ul><li>Its capital is Albany even its largest city is New York City. </li></ul><ul><li>Their residents are called Newyorkers. </li></ul>

Geography and climate <ul><li>Geography: </li></ul><ul><li>It is the 27th largest state by size. </li></ul><ul><li>The state is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south, and Connecticut, Massachussets and Vermont to the east. </li></ul><ul><li>Climate: </li></ul><ul><li>New York has a humid continental climate: the winters are long and cold and the summers are warm with some periods of uncomfortable humidity. </li></ul>

History <ul><li>During the 17th century the colony of New Netherlands settled in the USA and created New Amsterdam (NYC), Fort Nassau (Albany)… </li></ul><ul><li>NY endorsed the Declaration of Independence (July 9,1776). </li></ul><ul><li>France gave the Statue of Liberty as a gift to mark the Centennial of the American Declaration of Independence. </li></ul><ul><li>On the 11th of 2001 Al-Qaeda crashed two airplanes into the Twin Towers. </li></ul>

Economy <ul><li>New York's gross state product in 2007 was $1.1 trillion, ranking third in size behind the larger states of California and Texas. </li></ul><ul><li>New York City is the leading center of banking, finance and communication in the United States and is the location of the New York Stock Exchange . </li></ul><ul><li>New York exports a wide variety of goods such as foodstuffs, commodities, minerals, computers and electronics, cut diamonds, and automobile parts. </li></ul>
