Intro Asked to come here and talk what our company does. What we do - Manufacture photopolymer material and processing equipment for the sign fabricating industry.Going to also talk a little bit about how you can use our materials for develop environmentally sound wayfinding system and also a bit about the work that we have done with the SEGD as members of the Green Committee. We’ve seen a significant shift in Green Building that’s making it’s way into EGDThe goal here today is to share some insight into how to use and specify photopolymer particularly when it comes to Green design

A little about NovaOur manufacturing facility is located in Bryan, OH. Our goal is to incorporate as much locally sourced material as possible and work with companies that share our vision of environmental responsibility. We recently added two new products that incorporate Greenguard™ Certified materials. One of these products incorporates a minimum of 40% recycled content. In our manufacturing process we have implemented just-in-time manufacturing techniques to reduce energy and waste while becoming more efficient. These strategies are carried over to our clients who use our solutions in their fabrication processes. In 2008 we developed OEM software and processing techniques that allow our customers to significantly reduce waste and realize efficiency gains in their process.

Have 8 strategic washhouse location across USThere is a great deal of energy and material waste that is created in the sale-of-goods process that can generally go unnoticed. While we feel it is important to look internally at operations, we feel it is equally as important to look at the way our products are brought to market. we redesigned our packaging and implemented a new sales and distribution program. This program is intended to drastically reduce the amount of packaging waste and energy that is required to bring products to our customers. The goal of this program is to reduce the amount of incremental product shipments 25% by the end of 2008.

Brief explanation - Idea is to descibe what polymer is and other things it is used for – then go into the Archiectural Sign applicationsSo….. If you look up photopolymer in Wikaipedia.org you get the following definition: A photopolymer is a polymer that cures, or becomes solid, when exposed to light, often in the ultraviolet spectrum. These polymers are useful in dentistry for fillings and in rapid prototyping in the stereolithography and 3D printing processes. This material is also used in the creation of ADA compliant Architectural Signage. This material also used as a relief plate for flexographic printing, mainly used in flexible packaging, plastics, paper, labels and corrugated boxes. Some commercial brands worldwide include DuPont Cyrel, BASF Nyloflex, Novacryl, Elaslon and McDermid. The basic material is soft and light sensitive, then is applied a selective exposure to UV lamps, then it is developed and then cured.

The ECR product was Made using Varia Ithemba –Full Circle program. Story of Ithemba - Meaning "hope" in Xosi, Ithemba is our most well known full circle product. HIV-impacted women earn a much needed income by weaving copper and traditional beads. They receive business skills training, job skills training, marketing support and mentorship.Availability to use these materials in signageContribute to LEED credits

    7. So, what is photopolymer…
    8. What is Photopolymer
Photopolymer is a photo-sensitive synthetic compound that hardens when exposed to an ultraviolet light source.
Photopolymer is available in both liquid and sheet form. It has a number of applications that span a multitude of industries – ranging from flexographic printing to rubber stamps to signage.
    9. What is Photopolymer
It wasn’t until the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1992 that photopolymer rose to prominence in the sign industry. The new ADA regulations had a major impact on tactile signage requiring all public facilities to meet specific codes and regulations as discussed in the previous section. Photopolymer was an instant fit as the ADA laws required all room identification signage to have Braille and Tactile characters 1/32” off the base material.
    10. Processing Photopolymer
      For Architectural Signage
Computer generated artwork is produced by software that conforms to current ADA guidelines, outputs to a film negative which is placed on the surface of the photopolymer sheet in the processing unit then exposed to ultraviolet light – hardening the raised area.
