  • 2. Vocabulary Review: Variable Expression ­ an expression consisting of one or more  numbers, variables, and operations to be performed. Equation ­ a mathematical sentence with an equal ( = ) sign. 2
  • 3. Addition Subtraction plus the quotient of the sum of fewer than times added to minus Division increased by Multiplication the product of subtracted from total the difference of mutiplied by less than decreased by more than divided by 3
  • 4. Match the words with the expression. 4 plus a number x x minus 10 x ­ 10 6x The product of a number x and 6 12  4 + x  x 12 divided by a number x 4
  • 5. Circle the operation words. Write the following words as expressions! 3 added to a number x The difference of 12 and a number x The sum of 4 and a number x 9 less than a number x 5
