Innovation Academy POTENTIAL UNIT / PROJECTPurpose Learn how to market effectively for a variety of audiences and purposes. •Develop an advertising campaign for Colegio Roosevelt, focusing on our key values •Organize students into ad teams of no more than four •Read “To Sell is Human” (Dan Pink) along with a articles about culture & values •Research the most important values of our school through interviews, observation, etc. Project •Watch various advertisements and the techniques they use to get the audience’s attention and to persuade them. •Develop a pitch for two different ads that will be presented to the class and members of our community. •Produce the one that received the best response and presented it to our community. ENGLISH • develop in students the ability to engage in close, detailed analysis of a variety of individual texts and make relevant connections. • encourage students to think critically about the different interactions between text, audience and purpose. MEDIA LITERACYOutcomes • promote students understanding of how the mass media use language and image to inform, persuade or entertain. BUSINESS • promote awareness of social, cultural and ethical factors in the actions of organizations and individuals in those organizations. • develop an awareness in the student that human attitudes and beliefs are widely diverse and that the study of society requires an appreciation of such diversity.
