  • 1. The Jazz Age
    By: Willy Haeuser
  • 2. What is Jazz?
    Jazz is a traditional style of music in African American communities. This was used in a time when family came together and would have a great time singing together.
  • 3. What started the Jazz age?
    The Jazz age was started by African Americans during 1920’s and became known through main stream radio and at the end of the war people had more time to listen to music and that’s where Jazz got it’s start.
  • 4. Where was Jazz started?
    Jazz was started in the south in African American communities in the early twentieth century. It also became very popular due to the Great Migration which spread out African Americans that played Jazz all around the United States.
  • 5. Where was jazz mainly located?
    People that played jazz ended up in big cities like Chicago or New York. They played on the street and in bars where people were illegally drinking due to prohibition. Jazz became very popular with the middle class white society and soon started playing jazz too.
  • 6. Famous Jazz Artists.
    Some famous jazz players are Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Kid Ory, and Duke Ellington. These people contributed a lot of time and dedication to jazz and this rewarded them with having the most popular music of the 20s, Jazz.
  • 7. How did Jazz influence America.
    Jazz influenced America with the positivity of diversion in white areas in America. Jazz was a new type of sound and it provided more, new entertainment which made it so accepted because most people loved Jazz.
  • 8. Common Jazz Instruments are…
    Some instruments are the trumpet, saxophone, Piano, Clarinet, Double Bass, Trombone, and Drums. Sometimes all of the instruments are used and have more than one or there are only a couple instruments that play depending on the difficulty of the song.
  • 9. Why I Chose this.
    I chose the Jazz Age because I like music and never really new a lot about Jazz. I wanted to know the famous jazz players and all the instruments in jazz. Also, the Jazz Age effected America in the 20s immensely and I wanted to know why, where it started and how it influenced americans in the country.
