  • 2. What is a Reptile?
    • Reptiles are cold-blooded.
    • There are more then 6,800 reptile species in the world!
    • They have bodies covered with dry and horny scales.
  • 3. Defense
    • When snake gets mad flattens it’s head and neck and hisses loudly. It makes a strike but rarely bites.
    • Some lizards have tails that fall off when they are attacked.
    • Ringneck Snake it shows a red warning color underneath its tail as a warning sign.
    • Most lizards depend on camouflage.
    • Some reptiles such as alligators are protected by their tough skin.
    • Some harmless snakes have colors and patterns that are the same as some venomous snakes.
    • With their jaws they kill.

    • Lizards
    • Snakes
    • Turtles
  • 5. Examples of Reptiles
    • Spectacled Caiman
    • Yellow Mud Turtle
    • Spiny Softshell
    • Striped Racer
    • Rubber Boa
  • 6. My Favorite Reptile Loggerhead Turtle
    • Female may lay 5 clutches with a 100 eggs in each clutch.
    • Look for a large turtle with a big head.
    • Is 31-48 feet.
    • Costal bays, salt marshes, river mouths.
