  • 2. Major Information
    • Born July 14th 1862 in the Austrian Empire
    • Died February 6th 1918 at 55 years old
    • Worked in symbolism, landscaping, and portraits
    • Some of Klimt’s influences include Minne, Khnopff, Toorop, and even Boecklin as well as the mosaics of Ravenna
  • 3. Personal
    • Was the second oldest of 7
    • Lived in poverty most of his life
    • Had an estimated 14 children
    • Was very criticized as a young artist
    • Never married
  • 4. Key Life Events
    • Born July 14 th , 1862
    • Went to the School of Arts and Crafts
    • Klimt highly criticized for his paintings shown in a university
    • 1897, Klimt and other artist start the Viennese Secession
    • Later starts on surrealism and expressionism

    • Around 1898 he starts to look into landscaping
    • January 11 th , 1918. Gustav Klimt has a seizure and is paralyzed on his right side. He can no longer paint because of the loss of use in his dominate hand
    • February 6 th , 1918. Klimt dies of Phenomena
    • 4 of his children come out to say that they are his (3 were already known during his lifetime)

    • Gustav Klimt had a short yet very eventful life in witch he created some very amazing arts that use beautiful bold colors to their best as well as simple shapes to make elegant ornate paintings.
