What is the European union?
The European Union is a union of 25 independent states based on the European communities and founded to enhance political economic and social co-operation
Which countries are currently in the EU?
The countries that are currently in the EU are Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands and The United Kindom.
When did the countries join?
Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, United Kindom and Northen ireland joined the European union November 1 st 1993.
Austria, Finland and Swedan joined on the 1 st January 1995.
Cyprus, The Czech republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia joined on 1 st May 2004.
Bulgaria and Romania joined on the 1 st January 2007.
France is the largest country in western Europe. It has a long history of political, economical and cultural influence.
It has an area of 547,030km and a population of 59,060,000.
