  2. 2. fun facts • lives in northern states of Maine • They emerge from hibernation in April and disappear to vernal pools • About 5 tutles per square mile
  3. 3. More Fun facts • Mate from may to July • Lay 8 to 10 eggs
  4. 4. endangered because of : -habitat loss -fragmentation from human development - Prementation of eggs and young turtles by raccoons
  5. 5. What we’re Doing to protect them: • 10 families protect 16 nests on or near their property • In fall people monitor nests fore merging hatchlings and radio track hatchlings
  6. 6. The blandings turtle is now somewhat safe
