  • Adaptations
    • Correctly identified structural and behavioral adaptations
    • EXPLAINED how adaptations helped chosen organism to survive
  • X Some butterflies migrate farther south than others X Some red-winged blackbirds defend larger territories than others X Squirrels collect nuts in the fall and store them for winter X A clam’s hard shell allows it to burrow in the sand X Some giraffes have longer necks than others X A hawk has wings Trait Feature
  • Variation
    • Variation allows the beetle to survive even if the environment were to change. Because they are different colors, the beetles can successfully live on the tree leaves, the bark and the grass. If the tree was cut down, the grass colored beetles would still be able to survive
  • X Deer have offspring in the early spring X Clams have hard shells X Walkingsticks are colored much like their environment X Humans put coats on in the winter X Geese migrate south X A giraffe has a long neck X Viceroy butterfly has similar coloration as the monarch X A bear hibernates in the winter Structural Behavioral
