    • 2014 WINTER OLYMPICS Let the games begin
    • Sochi has a warm humid temperature climate with hot summers and no dry season. Over the course of the year the temperature typically varies from 36 degrees to 84 degrees and is rarely below 29 degrees or above 89 degrees
    • CULTURE Food Borshch is the most famous Russian traditional food (which is a beet soup). Caviar or Ikra is also very popular in Russia. Samovars and tea drinking are a huge part of Russia culture. A samovar is a device used to heat and boil water for tea. Clothing Traditional Russian women wear a head dress called a kokoshnik. They also wear a traditional dress called a sarafan. There are also two very famous types of Russian shawls. Russian men wear fine linen rubashka or use a shirt. Traditional Russian clothing is designed to highlight the spirit of Russia. Sports The tree most popular sports in Russia are ice hockey, figure skating, and chess
    • HOLIDAYS New Years is the most popular Russian holiday. One tradition they have is from January 1st to January 5th, nobody has to attend work. Also after Christmas they leave their tree up but give it a new name. They call it the New Year tree but Russians also celebrate
    • The Olympics brings all the different cultures and people together from around the world.
    • The History of the Olympics. -The Olympic games were closely linked to religious festivals of the cult of Zeus, but were not an integral part of rite. -The first Olympic Games held only the event of running. This event was called the Stade. Women were not allowed to compete in the first Olympics. Married women were not even allowed to watch. The men had to be extremely fit and pretty young. In the first Olympic games men did not wear any clothes when they competed.
    • FUN FACTS Russians never shake hands over a door way, they believe it leads to arguments. One of the oldest Russian traditions is the banya, a Russian type sauna and even though this tradition is several centuries old the banya is Russians love to popular even visit each other and today. need no special reason like a holiday or birthday to have a celebration or
