  • 3. * Photorealism are scenes that are painted in a style resembling photographs. * Photorealist art is also often referred to as Super-Realism, New Realism, Sharp Focus Realism, Verism, or Hyper-Realism. * Photorealism was a primarily American art movement that emerged in the late 1960’s and flourished in the 1970’s. * Photorealism shares some similarities with Pop Art. Both Photorealist Art and Pop Art feature recognizable imagery that is heavily based on consumer culture. * Photorealist paintings usually are commonplace objects or scenery, and sometimes portraits. * Photorealist paintings are usually quite large, often depicting objects many times larger that they actually are in real life. These paintings are usually done in oil or acrylic. Candy Colors , (2007) Thaneeya McArdle Pink Cupcake , (2007) Thaneeya McArdle Photorealism
