    • Rayonism (1911-1914) Hailey Smith
    • Definition
      • Rayonism- A style of abstract painting allied to futurism, developed about 1911, in which forms are depicted as emitting rays of light.
      • Artists
      • Mikhail Larionov
    • Where it came from..
      • Rayonism is a Russian art movement founded by Mikhile F. Larionvo representing one of the first steps toward the development of abstract art in Russia.
      • It’s a lot like futurism.
      • The central feature of Rayonism is the "crossing of reflected rays from various objects;" to this end, its most powerful tools are color and line.
    • Artworks ! Rayonism is a form of abstract art that originated from Russia around the time of 1911.
    • Rayonism continued..
    • Mikhail Fiodorovich Larionov (1881-1964)
      • Mikhail Larionvo was pretty much the first to make a movement toward rayonism.
      • In 1912 he initiated two very important movements: Rayonismm (Rayism) and Neo-primitivism. Rayonism was inspired by Italian Futurism and Neo-primitivism and represented a development of the artist's Fauvist and Expressionist interests.
      • Rayonism was officially launched at the Target exhibition of 1913. In 1914 he traveled with Goncharova to Paris. They held an exhibition at the Gallerie Paul Guillaume.
    • Mikhail Larionov’s Pieces
      • Mikhail's main focus is abstract art but he doesn’t always create abstract art. The piece to the right “ Autumn Twilight” is not abstract.
