      • As your Captain, I need to decide where to settle our colony.
    • The Mission
      • I will assign you to groups of 3 or 4 members
      • You will investigate the regions of Texas.
      • Finally, you will recommend in which region to settle and present your findings to all members and groups in the room.
    • The Group Leader
      • Each group will decide on a Group Leader.
      • The Group Leader has much responsibility and thus:
        • Will personally receive extra credit if the group performs well
        • Will personally lose extra points if the group fails to do well

    • Your Mission is Timed
      • The Group Leader will use the Group Leader’s Log to monitor the mission’s success (total of 40 minutes)
      • Presentations will be made after time has expired
      • Materials Needed:
      • Textbook
      • Regional Guides
      • One Sheet of Paper for Speech
      • Manila Folder
      • Glue Sticks/Map Pencils

    • RUBRIC If group grade is 80 or above, leader receives 10 pts. extra If group grade is less than 80, leader loses 10 pts. extra One Paragraph for Speech (5-8 sentences) One Topic sentence 20 pts. Two to Four Fact-based sentences 20 pts One to Two opinion sentence 10 pts. One Conclusion sentence 10 pts. Audience Etiquette 15 pts Penmanship/Handwriting is legible 10 pts. Neat Portfolio with all Regional Guides 15 pts TOTAL POINTS 100 pts.
