  • 2. The Importance
    • Grew up a baseball fan
    • Became a baseball fan during the “Steroid Era”
    • I play baseball and love baseball
  • 3. Could it had been prevented?
    • Major League Baseball could of prevent the “Steroid Era” Long before it blew up to be the monster it was.
    • Numerous Reports about players using steroids.
  • 4. Time Line
    • In 1980, a LA writer came out with a story claiming that Jose Canseco was the biggest steroid user
    • Numerous team called the 1989 A’s, the Oakland Raiders due to their size.
    • Anabolic steriod act was put out in the U.S making it illegal to sell, or use them.
  • 5. Continued
    • MLB baseball stated that any law or act put out by the U.S about drugs will be enforced in the MLB.
  • 6. Jose Canseco
    • Won rookie of the year
    • Couple years later, broke his wrost and missed half the year, still hit 36 homeruns.
    • Admitted to suing steroids and said it “ made him the player he was”

  • 7. Alex Rodriguez
    • He was Baseballs Cover Boy
    • Won Rookie of the year
    • Signed a 10 year $250 million Contract With The Texas Rangers
    • Said he used steroids because “ there was a lot of pressure to perform and perform beyond good.”
    • He got himself another 10 year contract, this time 275 million during the time he used steroids

    • Said he stopped using steroids after the 2003 season
  • 9. Conclusion
    • MLB could have prevented the “steroid era” before it became the monster it set out to be.
    • They used to much time trying to find out when all the evidence was right there in front of their eyes.
