      • Pearl Harbor is the movie based on World War II.  The film was directed by Michael Bay, and was released on May 25 2001.  Ben Affleck, Kate Beckinsale and Josh Hartnett were the stars of the movie.  The movie took place in the time of World War II at Pearl Harbor.
    3. Part 2-The Plot
      • Pearl Harbor is a movie centered around World War II, and the other events around it that contributed to it.  It starts off with two childhood friends Rafe and Danny, who dreamed of one day becoming pilots.  As they grow up they join the Navy.  Rafe meets a Navy nurse Evelyn, then they fall in love.  Rafe is sent off to fight in Britain, but Danny and Evelyn are sent to Pearl Harbor.  But on 12/7/41 the Japanese dropped a bomb on Pearl Harbor, which causes a large air raid.

    4. Part 3-The Actors Performances
      • Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett and Kate Beckinsale are the three main characters in this movie.  Capt. Rafe McCrawley (Affleck) a pilot who is in the navy with his childhood best friend (Hartnett), falls for a nurse (Beckinsale), then is sent off to fight in Britain.  Ben Affleck is the right choice for this role.  As he brings comedy, passion and drama to the role.  Kate Beckinsale's (Evelyn) character plays the Navy nurse that Rafe falls for.  Her scene during the air raid at Pearl Harbor consisted of great acting.  Everyone's performances were believable.  The chemistry between Ben Affleck and Kate Beckinsale was perfect .

    5. Part 4-Cinematography
      • The most important thing about making a film about war in history is the directing.  If a director cannot capture the most important detail in a film about WWII, then Pearl Harbor is not your movie to direct.  The camera work in Pearl Harbor is amazing.  It consists of major war scenes and showing what it is like to fly as a military pilot.  Director Michael Bay did an amazing job on one of the first scenes where Ben Affleck and Josh Harnett's character are flying their jets and pull a stunt that gets them in trouble .
      • Special effects played a big part in this movie.  The war scenes throughout this film are from special effects.  One good example is the scene where the Japanese are flying above Pearl Harbor and drop the bomb.  The explosion in that scene was quite powerful.  And how the plains flew over the land of where civilians lived was quite cinematic how the plains flew so low.  Costumes and props are a big part of this film since the story takes place back in the 30's and 40's.  The costumes were recreated for the nurses, navy and civilians.  Props included the recreation of old trains, plains and the different sets that were used for certain scenes to recreate a resteraunt and the naval base.
    6.   History         Part 5 World War II began in 1939 and lasted until 1945.  The war involved a large amount of the world's nations.  This was the most deadliest war because of the amount of civilians that were killed.  In September of 1939, Germany invaded Poland.  Britain and France declare war on Germany.  In 9/17/1939 Red Army invades Poland in accordance with Nazi-Soviet Pact.  During the six year period the Nazis began to take control of other countries.  And Americans were being taken as prisoners of war.  Dictator Adolf Hitler was the most powerful man in Europe at that time.  And the U.S. President was Harry S. Truman.  "Truman's presidency was also eventful in foreign affairs , with the end of World War II and his decision to use nuclear weapons against Japan, the founding of the United Nations , the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe , the Truman Doctrine to contain communism, the beginning of the Cold War , the creation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization , and the Korean War ."                 - Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia World War II relates to the film Pearl Harbor because, on 12/7/1941, Japanese attack naval base at Pearl Harbor.
    7. Part 6-Historical Accuracy
        • To me this film was very entertaining.  It involved historical events such as the bombing at Pearl Harbor.  Comedy was also a small part of the film.  After research of how this film was rated, I was surprised to see that many people did not care for it.  But everyone seems to believe that the movie had great special effects.  And I agree, definitly.
      •
        •    The historical accuracy of the movie was not all there.  But the main part was, the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor.  Which of course saved the film.  And without that, you could not call this movie Pearl Harbor.  The film concentrated more on the personal lives of the main characters.  Such as the relationships between Rafe and Evelyn, Rafe and Danny as well as Danny and Evelyn.   Also one other thing that I liked in movie was the clips that were shown through the movie of updates on the war.
    8. I learned alot about world War II.  Such as the other battles between nations and countries.  And the exact dates of the major events in the war that took place from a timeline of events I found in my research.  Also how the war effects changed the way of everyones lives back then.  One thing that I like learning about in the wars is how people were effected from it.  Which could be: A family menber who was sent off to war.  A relationship between a husband and wife.  Or a friendship.  That is what I love about this film, it is not strictly a war film.  It shows more of the personal lives during that hard time.
