Will The book Rangers Apprentice is about a boy named Will that is an orphan. Will’s mother died during childbirth while his father died a Hero in the last war. He is 15, and when you are 15 you’re allowed to become an Apprentice to a Cook, a Scribe master, a Battle school instructor, or in a very rare occasion a Farmer or a Ranger. Will is chosen to be a Ranger.
Halt Halt is the Ranger for the Kingdom that they live in. There are a total of 50 Kingdoms which means that there are 50 different Rangers. On choosing day none of the Mentors wants Will as their Apprentice. Except for the Ranger named Halt who has been watching Will for the last few years. At first Will wanted to be a Knight like his father was so he didn’t want to become a Ranger.
The Rangers Role A Ranger is more of a spy and is very stealthy. They hide in the grass, in trees, and in bushes. Each Ranger gets a horse that is trained to not get stolen and is very quiet. In the last war Halt played a huge role by telling the army that there was a secret bridge that the enemy did not know about.
Wills Training The first day of his Rangership Halt has Will do all the daily chores such as cleaning the pots, fetching the water for the day, cutting fire wood, and cooking. Then the next day he has will train with his bow and arrow. Then the next day Halt brought Will to get his new horse and learned how to ride it.
Rangers weapons The main weapon a Ranger uses is a bow and arrow. They can use it on foot and while they are perched in a tree. They also use the throwing knife at close range. They use it at close range so that they don’t have to get too close to the enemy. The horse also is a very important tool to use. They can be used for travel and also elevation to climb onto tree branches.
