What is Web 2.0? <ul><li>The Internet itself is a series of interconnected servers joined by a web of protocols to provide mass communication and document storage. </li></ul><ul><li>Web 2.0 is an additional layer over the Internet that allows people to interact with information and be content providers . </li></ul>

Web 2.0 Culture <ul><li>Developed Social Networking sites </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Which in turn creates Social Networking Fatigue – “…induced by persistent solicitations to join new social networks. It is especially acute in those who are already members of more MySpaces than they can remember.” – Wired magazine issue 15.05, May 2007 </li></ul></ul>
  4. 5. Web 2.0 Culture <ul><li>Fills the web space with blogs, wikis, and online collaboration tools. </li></ul><ul><li>Most of these tools are free and offer “unlimited” space. </li></ul><ul><li>For the most part, they also share whatever you post to them with a global audience. </li></ul>

Tag…You’re it! <ul><li>Web data has been connected by HyperText – the ability to connect through a series of links. </li></ul><ul><li>Web 2.0 allows data to be connected through TAGS. </li></ul><ul><li>Tagging assigns a keyword to a piece of media like a picture, video, or blog. These tags are then shared in social networking sites to connect people based on similar interests. </li></ul>

Dodgeball? <ul><li>Dodgeball </li></ul><ul><li>Step 1: Create an account </li></ul><ul><li>Text DG where you are and then it will tell others in your call list where you are </li></ul><ul><li>If they have other DG friends, it will let you know that a dodgeball friend of a friend is nearby. </li></ul>

Jott this down <ul><li>Jott – http://www.jott.com </li></ul><ul><li>Create an account and then create your social groups: friends, family, coworkers, etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Enter their email and/or phone with text numbers </li></ul><ul><li>Call Jott and say the name of your group. </li></ul><ul><li>Record a voice message for the group. </li></ul><ul><li>Jott then translates your voice message into text and sends it to the group members. </li></ul>
  14. 15. Next? <ul><li>Truemors – an online rumor sharing blog that allows participants to post the latest rumor they have heard. This is in beta testing now. </li></ul><ul><li>What are the Truemors you are hearing about Web 2.0? </li></ul>
