  • 1. Search Engine Optimization Mysti Reutlinger
  • 2. Understanding SEO
    • SEO is more than following trending keywords on Google, it is building the keywords associated with your business to increase the natural ranking of your Web site to bring in the right people who want to purchase a product or service.
    • 3. All businesses must determine their primary focus of their Web site.
    • 4. If selling a niche product, the example used here is electronic cigarettes, the content and keywords utilized on the Web site must fall within that niche.
    • 5. Keywords selected by one of my clients: e-cigarette, e-cig, eCigarette, eCig, electronic cigarette, smoking alternative
  • 6. Long-term goal
    • Determine the ultimate goal desired by increasing page-rank and creating organic, site-specific keywords.
    • 7. For all businesses, having keywords that rank in the top 100 within 6 months is desirable.
    • 8. Page rank increase based off where a Web site currently ranks. (To check your Web site page rank, visit http://www.prchecker.info ) For a Web site ranked 0/10 – 4/10, an increase of 1-5 page ranks is achievable within 6 months provided organic content is utilized.
    • 9. The ultimate goal of all businesses is to increase sales. Through a comprehensive approach to SEO, organic leads are generated leading you to close the prospect.
  • 10. Common Mistakes in SEO
    • All content generated must be original. There is a great marketing team that is currently promoting article submitters and article generators. Google knows this! Google has evaluated those programs and factored in the common phrases into their algorithm and mark this content as spam.
    • 11. Keyword density too high will result in Google pulling your Web site from their system. Google is quick to remove sites that have an overall keyword density greater than or equal to 6%. Google favors Web sites with a keyword density of 2-4 percent.
    • 12. All content on your Web site must be honed in a 1-3% keyword density fashion.

  • 60. Value of Articles
What is the value of articles posted on other sites? Shouldn't I have content only on my Web site?
    • Google's algorithm factors approximately 60% of the content on your site, 30% on content linking to your site, and 10% on social media and other small blogs/sites referencing you and your business.
    • 61. Because of how the algorithm functions, it is necessary to have content linking into your Web site – the main www address, services pages, and popular posts.
