Transcript of "Batman, The Dark Knight Poster Analysis - A2 Media Studies"

  1. 1. THEME – The theme of the poster is lightblue representing the cities in thebackground is in a peaceful environment. The Joker who’s layered in front of the citiesand dark around the body represents a stateof danger. The right-finger writing out “WHYSO SERIOUS?” with a  represents adeceiving and mischievous character in thefilm. The use of red writing also makes him adangerous person as red has a connotationof danger and insecurityINSTITUTIONS – The institutions are resizedto a small size with the same colour as thetheme of the poster – very light blue. This isto keep the simplicity to a minimum.WHY SO SERIOUS? – The font is sans-serifgiving it the joke’ vibe to the text itself. Thisalso represents the quote itself. Theemphasis is strictly focused on the way thetext is constructed – words are narrow thengets bigger. This gives it a more scarierapproach to the poster.
  2. 2. THE JOKER – The character is wearing a boss-like coat with rough hair and make-up on hisface which forms a juxtaposition. It alsocounters the stereotype of clowns having abig belly and making positive banter. Thistells the audience that this movie shows adifferent representation of people – this canencourage stakeholders to see this film.
