Advanced Facilities <ul><li>Standard Letters </li></ul><ul><li>A letter may need to be sent to many people. </li></ul><ul><li>A copy of the letter is saved on disk </li></ul><ul><li>The letter is loaded. </li></ul><ul><li>One name and address inserted and the letter is printed. </li></ul><ul><li>This can be repeated for different people. </li></ul>Saved on disk Load the letter, type the name and address, print.

Advanced Facilities <ul><li>Mail Merge </li></ul><ul><li>This uses a Database to send a standard letter to many people automatically. </li></ul><ul><li>A standard letter is saved with name and address missed out. </li></ul><ul><li>A database file with the missing data is created. </li></ul><ul><li>Pointers are put in the standard letter to show where the data is to go. </li></ul><ul><li>The computer puts the missing data into the letter for every person in the data file. </li></ul>

Templates include common formats such as addresses and date entries and allow you to create professional looking letters, memos, reports, and other documents easily. </li></ul>
  11. 11. <ul><li>Tables </li></ul><ul><li>A table is an object that helps the user format (organise) text entries in a document. </li></ul>
  12. 12. <ul><li>OCR ( Optical character recognition) </li></ul><ul><li>Optical character recognition (OCR) software is used to enter text into a computer by means of a scanner. The OCR software interprets the the digital data from the scanner, comparing shapes the shapes of text with those in its memory. It then stores the code. </li></ul><ul><li>The text can then be entered into the system. </li></ul>
  13. 13. Alignment/Justification BACK This piece of text is left justified. It lines up straight on the left, but is ragged on the right. This piece of text is right justified. It lines up straight on the right, but is ragged on the left. This piece of text is centre justified. You usually centre headings. This piece of text is fully justified. It lines up straight on both the right and left margins.
