  • 1. 3 May 2013Do Now:In your classroom journal, list the four most important events from last night’s chapter in the order in which they occur.Welcome back!I hope you all had a lovely weekend. You ended last week by taking Quiz #4 and discussing "Shadows and Tall Trees," in which we see Ralph and Jack struggling for power on the island. Today we will continue our study of Lord of the Flies by analyzing "Gift for the Darkness," which you read for homework.
  • 2. Marker Walk:Around the room, there are four passages from "Gift for the Darkness." In your groups, you will annotate and analyze each passage.For each station:1. Read over the passage and consider your classmates annotations for one minute. This minute should be silent.2. Take three minutes to annotate and discuss the passage as a group. Each group member should make one annotation in a different colored ink.
  • 3. Now that youre back to your original station...Take two minutes to review all of the annotations made by your classmates, and as a group, select three talking points that you would like to share with the class.
