  3. 3. Matter <ul><li>Matter: Anything with volume or mass </li></ul>A football is a pure substance because it has weight witch is a part of mass and it has volume because it is visible and it takes up space.
  4. 4. Not Matter <ul><li>Not Matter: anything without volume or mass </li></ul>Space is not matter because it has no mass or volume.
  5. 5. Pure Substance <ul><li>Pure Substance: a substance that cannot be broken down into other substances </li></ul>Water is a pure substance because it cannot be broken Down.
  6. 6. Element <ul><li>Element: a chemical substance that contains only one substance </li></ul>Gold (Au) is an element because it contains only one substance
  7. 7. Mixture <ul><li>Mixture: a combination of different substances </li></ul>Soap is a mixture because it is made up of different substances
  8. 8. Emulsion <ul><li>Emulsion:when substances in a mixture will not blend together </li></ul>Salad dressing is emulsion because the different substances are visible
  9. 9. Non-reversible Change <ul><li>Non-reversible Change: A change that cannot be reversed into its original state </li></ul>Fried eggs are a non-reversible change because they cannot be made into raw eggs.
  10. 10. Mechanical Mixture <ul><li>Mechanical Mixture: a mixture where the different substances are visible </li></ul>Cereal is a Mechanical Mixture because the different substances are visible
  11. 11. Compound <ul><li>Compound: A substance containing two or more substances </li></ul>Table salt (NaCl) is a compound because it is made up of sodium and Chlorine
  12. 12. Reversible Mixture <ul><li>Reversible Mixture: a mixture where the mixture can change back to its original state </li></ul>Ice is a reversible mixture because it can change back to water which is its original State.
