Slide 2: GPS & Web 2.0 • 2.0 is happening everywhere • Second Generation of internet based services • Using technologies to create socially constructed information and sharing • “Doesn’t have a hard boundary but a gravitational core” • GPS adds time and space to information, either synchronous or asynchronous

Slide 5: GPS, Mapping, and Web 2.0 in Education • Instruction, application, and practice with these technologies needs to be integrated within all subject areas • Both teachers and students need to be proficient in web 2.0 technologies • What needs to happen: – Collaboration of SME’s, ID professionals, and educators – An examination of current pedagogy, curriculum, and educational focus – Training of teachers • A spiraling curriculum that scaffolds learning needs to be created and implemented beginning in the primary grades
