  • 3. A podcast is a series of digital-media files which are distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and computers. The term podcast , like broadcast , can refer either to the series of content itself or to the method by which it is syndicated; the latter is also called podcasting . source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcasting

    • OurMedia : A free hosting service for your audio and video files with unlimited bandwidth and unlimited disk space. Your podcasts and vidcast files are uploaded to the Internet Archive servers [archive.org] under the Creative Commons license. You specify the license details at the time of uploading so that so that others will know what they may (or may not) do with with your audio.  [ ourmedia.org ] Odeo Studio : Odeo has tools to record podcasts or store them for sharing. They will host your podcasts for free though there's a 50mb limit per uploaded file. However, there is no limit to how many files you can upload. One downside is that if people hear the podcast outside the Odeo Flash Audio player, they will have to hear a short Odeo commercial. Does not support video. [ studio.odeo.com ] blip.tv : blip.tv provides free hosting, support for a variety of video formats, RSS distribution and an opt-in advertising program with a 50/50 revenue share. Blip.tv also allows for cross-uploading to the internet archive and cross-posting to a variety of web destinations including MySpace (as MySpace bulletins or blog entries) Blogger , MovableType , WordPress and WordPress.com , TypePad, Flickr (the video thumbnail is posted to Flickr with a link to the video on blip.tv) ,del.icio.us (a link to the video with the tags entered on blip.tv is posted to the user's del.icio.us account), Any MovableType API , Metaweblog API, Blogger API or Atom API enabled content management sysetm blip.tv ]
