    2. 2 Purpose of Competition NASA seeks to develop technologies that reduce the expense and lead-time for civil and commercial space missions. The purpose of this competition is to merge entrepreneurial insight with technological innovation for the development of small space systems.
    3. 3 Examples Cube Sat A type of space research pico-satellite, weighing no more than one kilogram, and typically using commercial off-the-shelf electronics components.
