  • 1. What you need to do and know to register for classes next semester

    • You are responsible for registering yourself for your next semester’s classes
    • You will register online through Web Advisor
  • 3.
    • You cannot register until your designated registration time.
      • You can view this time on Web Advisor by clicking on “My Registration Appt Time”
      • This is when you can BEGIN to add/drop classes to your spring schedule. You will have until the start of next semester’s classes to make changes to your schedule
  • 4.
    • You have to meet with your academic advisor before you can register
      • If you don’t, an advising hold on your record will prevent you from registering
      • Other offices can also put holds
      • on your account; make sure to
      • check “View Person Holds / Restrictions” on
      • Web Advisor
  • 5.
    • You are expected to come to your pre-registration advising meeting prepared
    • with your tracking sheet and a list of possible classes for next semester
      • You can find your tracking sheet at ; click on your declared major and it should open
      • IDS students will receive a tracking sheet at the meeting.

    • Review the 2011-2012 University Catalog section on your major and the core curriculum (IDS students should follow their catalog year.)
      • You can find it online at
      • If you have a declared minor,
      • look at those requirements also.

    • Fill in your tracking sheet with the
    • classes you have completed or are
    • taking now
    • Review the course descriptions for courses you still need to take. See the University Catalog for course descriptions
      • Freshman should focus on core curriculum and foundation classes first – If you have your tracking sheet or have looked in the catalog, you can see what I’m talking about.
      • IDS students should focus on core and Advanced Study requirements .

    • Make a list of what classes (15-18 credits) you
    • want or need to take next semester
      • Be sure to select alternates also in case you don’t get your first choice of classes
      • Make sure to consider if any of your
      • future classes have pre-requisites
      • you need to take now
    • Don’t worry if you have questions or are unsure – that’s why we meet; just try your best.
  • 9. This is the core curriculum at glance. You can use this along with the catalog and your tracking sheet to help you choose classes.

    • Create and save a preferred schedule on Web Advisor
      • This does not save a seat in the class or register
      • you for it, but can help save you time searching
      • at your registration time
      • Review your preferred schedule shortly before your registration time and make any necessary changes
    • Come up with alternate classes and times in case of full classes or other problems
  • 11.
    • Double check the “personal restrictions” link on Web Advisor to make sure you have no holds
    • Register for classes at your date and time
      • Make sure to register for at least 12
      • credit hours to stay full time
      • Do not worry if you do not create the
      • “ perfect” schedule; you will have until the
      • start of the next semester to adjust it.
  • 12.
    • Double check that your registration went through
      • Log-off Web Advisor and then log back in
      • Click on the “My class schedule” link
      • Select next semester and review your schedule
      • Print out a copy for your records
  • 13.
    • That’s it! You’re done!
    • If you’ve followed these steps you
    • should be registered for next semester.
