Mowgli Mentoring Experience: March 2012 (3 days, dates TBC)South West Business Leaders!Mowgli UK is now recruiting mentors for the next mentoring programmes which will take place in March 2012. To get involved, you have to be quick! Read the below and apply: What is it? A volunteering opportunity like no other. You’ll be trained in listening, leadership, and communication as well as the principles of mentorship; matched with an entrepreneur who is poised to grow their business to the next level; and support them for one year as they make it happen. Join other business leaders from the South West as they support local entrepreneurs to create jobs Mowgli Manchester group at the workshop and develop their communities; and be personally involved in the next South West business success stories. The one-to-onerelationship is supported by regular Mowgli community events with other participants and key regionalstakeholders.Who can apply to be a Mowgli Mentor?We screen and interview all mentors, who must have (minimum):  5-10 years of entrepreneurial experience, or equivalent senior level corporate track record, with an understanding of the issues facing small businesses  Excellent listening skills and emotional intelligence  Commitment and understanding of the principles of the Mowgli programme and our mission  Ability to dedicate 6-8 hours per month to their mentee, as well as the initial 3-day residential workshopThe mentees/entrepreneursMentees are motivated, committed small business owners who want a mentor to progress or grow theirbusiness or charitable project to the next stage. They are typically +1year post startup, tradingsuccessfully, and come from diverse industries. We select mentees who can make an impact on theircommunities- either through job creation or through other positive social impacts. You will mentor themto focus on their goals for growth and development of the enterprise or social enterprise.The mentoring workshop and year-long experienceOur year-long Mowgli Mentoring Experience commences with a 3-day introduction to mentoringprogramme, which incorporates mentee and mentor matching, relationship building and a basicgrounding in mentoring practice. The first 1 day involves the mentors only, providing them withknowledge and tools to participate successfully in this experience. mentors and mentees will be paired during an accelerated relationship-building activity, followed by one-to-one sessions. The pairs will work on understanding each other while the mentee sets his businessproposition as well as personal development plans coupled with measurable goals. Pairs are matchedaccording to personal compatibility and synergy.For one year after, each mentee will drive their mentoring relationship, while his/her mentor will react tothe goals and objectives and provide support in achieving them. The structure of the relationship issupported by Mowgli but works entirely according to the needs of the mentor and mentee. We encourage participating mentors to make a financial donationwhich covers the cost of their participation on the Mowgli programme, and on this unique experience.Generally this contribution covers travel costs and accommodation. Should mentors have difficultymeeting these costs, consideration to a grant being made will be given in exceptional circumstances.Mowgli will discuss each mentor’s contribution individually at the interview stage of the applicationprocess.There are 12 spaces and they fill up quickly so please apply NOW!
