The programme isbeing delivered for the International Youth Foundation under the umbrella of the IYF Youth: Work JordanProgramme.This project presents an ambitious endeavour to train, guide and nurture young entrepreneurs identified from apool of socio-economically and educationally underprivileged youth in three communities in Jordan. Theultimate goal is to initiate a culture of entrepreneurship across underserved communities and create jobs fortheir young inhabitants. In order to make this happen, we are looking for 60 Jordanian mentors. Youth: Work Jordan ProgrammeThe MenteesAll participating mentees are pre-selected by the International Youth Foundation. Typically, they are youngmale/females between the age of 16-24 who are out of school, unemployed, with low levels of education, andwho come from Southern Shouneh, Mafraq, Sahab and Irbid. The mentees were assessed through one-to-oneinterviews and successful completion of the entrepreneurship training.The MentorsThe mentors will be identified through a selection process consisting of filling out an application form and apersonal interview. Typically, they are Jordanian entrepreneurs, many of whom would have already participatedas entrepreneurs in Mowgli’s mentoring programmes, as well as IYF staff, CBO members and entrepreneurs inthe local communities. Mentor must have minimum 3 years of professional experience, a higher educationdegree or a recognised equivalent and min. age 27 years. The mentors will utilise successes and challenges fromtheir own experiences to motivate and inspire ambitious entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds.Eligibility CriteriaMentors must be motivated and passionate about helping young people to achieve their potential. It’s veryimportant that an applicant commits to meeting their mentee 2-3 times per month for the full 12 months-duration of the programme, including the training and matching event at the beginning. Mentors must be fluentin Arabic. Experience of working with young people is not essential, but would be an advantage.The workshopMowgli Standard Mentoring Experience has been tailored to equip participating mentors with mentoring toolsthrough which they will be able to empower, inspire and motivate mentees. Our year-long programmecommences with a 2-day “introduction to mentoring” workshop which incorporates mentor training, menteeand mentor matching, relationship building and the development of a framework within which the mentee andmentor will operate for the remainder of the relationship.The outcomesThe expected outcomes of this mentorship programme are: enhanced employment/ entrepreneurshipopportunities for mentees, guidance during key transitions at an important stage in their lives, understandingthe value of mentoring as a personal development tool, encouraging a culture of entrepreneurship amongJordanian youth, inspiring belief and helping young people to achieve success.The venue and CostsThe training will be carried out at a central location in Amman, Jordan.
