    • Scientific name: Ailurus Fulgens
    Classification
  • 3. Appearance
    • Have a bronzered coloured fur.
    • They are the size of a house cat
    • Brown eyes
    • Has whiskars
    • White cheeks
  • 4. Habitat
    • They live in the forests of the Himalayas (Which passes through India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and Nepal.)
    • Also lives in the high mountains of northern Burma, western Sichuan and Yunnan.
    • But, they are built to live in forests.
  • 5. Life Cycle
    • Mothers have between 1-4 cubs
    • Cubs stay with their mothers for 1 ½ years.
    • Full grown in 18 months.
    • They give birth in the summer.

    • Eats bamboo
    • Eats small birds
    • Eats mammals
    • Eats reptiles
    • Eats bird eggs

  • 8. How do Red pandas help the environment
    • They are an ambassador for clean air and water for 1 billion people.
    • They help keep the animal population down since they are omnivores and so we don’t get a big overload of one animal.
  • 9. How do humans impact the natural environment of the Red panda.
    • Humans cut down bamboo trees which is their main food source
    • Humans hunt red pandas even though, it is illegal.
  • 10. How can we keep red pandas from being extinct.
    • We can stop hunting them for their fur and for their meat .
    • We can also stop cutting down bamboo trees.

    • Discovered in 1825
    • Can jump 5 feet from branch to branch.
    • Red pandas are good climbers.
    • The Latin name for red panda means “fire coloured cat” or “shining cat.”
