Cell Phone

Once you have captured your video clip. You must transfer the video file to your computer. Different recording devices use different methods to transfer files.
Step 2: Import the file to the movie editor

From the file menu, chose “import into collections” and locate the video file on your computer.
Once you find the file, it will show up in the editor. Our video file is there at the end.

Step 3: Place file in timeline

In order to start the editing process we must click our file and drag it down to the timeline at the bottom. You can see our file down at the timeline ready to begin editing.
Your video file also shows a preview of your video on the right hand side. As you edit you will be able to preview your changes.

Step 4: Choosing pieces to edit out

In our example, there is a blue line that shows up at the beginning of our video clip.
Once you have found the piece of the video you would like to cut, drag the line to the beginning mark, from the clip menu, select “split”. This will split the video in two pieces.
Drag your line to the end point of where you want to cut and select “split” again. You can delete the piece that you split and combine the two end clips.

You can also drag the double red arrow icon to snip ends and beginnings. You can see our video appears shorter now on the timeline
Step 5: Saving your movie file
Once you have edited your movie, you should save your work. You can save the project to return later to continue editing by going the file menu and selecting “Save project”. If you are ready to debut your video, chose “Save movie file” and your video will turn into a video file.
Step 6: Special Effects

This step is optional but if you want to jazz up your video you can add video effects, titles or captions, and transition effects between parts of your clip.
To access these, you go to the tool menu and select whatever effect or transition you would like to add to your video clip.

Step 7: Preview your finished product

You can see from this frame the different video transition effects that you can add to your video.
In order to play your edited video you can go to the play menu and select “play clip” or you can also hit play on the preview screen to the right .
Do not forget to save your finished video as a movie file before you try to upload it on to your website or video hosting site.

We hope you enjoyed this short video making tutorial.
