  • 2. HABITAT
    • The walruses live in cold places, so they live in many aereas of the Polar circle.
  • 3. HABITAT
    • There are 3 subspecies:
      • Atlantic walrus. They live in Atlantic ocean there are 20.000 walruses.
      • Pacific walrus .They live in the Pacific ocean. There are 200.000 walruses. The Pacific walrus imigrate seasonally polar cap.
      • Laptev walrus. They live in the Laptev sea, the north of Siberia. There, there are 10000 walruses.
  • 4. FOOD
    • The walrus eats when it wants.
    • They eat worms, soft corals,shrimps, crabs…
    • Its favorite food is the bivalve mollusks, that they extract from their sells using tremendous power.
    • Walruses eat a lot of mollusks but sometimes walruses eat seals, and even young walruses.
  • 5. DESCRPTION
    • Many male walruses can weigh 1996 kg and they measure 4,5 metre long.
    • The walruses are vertebrate, carnivorous.They are clumsy in the ice but agile in the water. They live around 40 years.
    • The walruses are gentle but you can tame them. They are wild although they wouldn’t attack you!
  • 6. DESCRPTION
    • The Atlantic walrus’ main caracteristic is that it has nostrils visible.
    • Contrary to Atlantic walrus, the Pacific walrus hasn’t nostrils visible.
    • The walruses use their tusks to fight, they do holes in the ice, and, overcoat, they use them to move in the water and in the ice.
  • 7. CURIOSITIES
    • In the Horniman Museum(London) there are a replic of an autentic walrus. It is 2265Kg and 9,14 metres long
