The agenda of National Education from view of Mahatma Gandhi Rabindranath Tagore
What he thought about Western EducationHe said that it focused on reading and writing rather than oral language; valued textbooks than lived experience and practical knowledge. He argued that education ought to develop a person’s mind and soul. Literacy – or simple learning to write did not count s education. People had to learn a craft, work with hands and know how different things re operated. This would develop their mind and capacity to understand.
