INTRODUCTION: <ul><li>A chamber of commerce is a form of business network, e.g., a local organization of businesses whose goal is to further the business interests of the community. </li></ul><ul><li>Business owners in towns and cities form these local societies to advocate on behalf of the business community. </li></ul><ul><li>Local businesses are members, and they elect a board of directors to set policy for the chamber. The board then hires a President, CEO , plus staffing appropriate to size, to run the organization. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>The first chambers of commerce were founded in 1599 in continental Europe. </li></ul><ul><li>The world's oldest English-speaking chamber of commerce is that of Glasgow, Scotland, which was established in 1783. </li></ul><ul><li>The largest chamber of commerce in the UK is the North East Chamber of Commerce with over 4,000 members. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>    HISTORY:   </li></ul><ul><li>ICC as it is popularly known, is the premier body of business and industry in Eastern and North-Eastern India . </li></ul><ul><li>The membership of the Chamber comprises several of the largest corporate groups in the country </li></ul><ul><li>It started assisting business since 1925. It has business operations all over the country and abroad. </li></ul><ul><li>ICC was closely associated with the Indian Freedom Movement , as the first organised voice of indigenous Indian Industry </li></ul>
