THE ROUTING 1- Router It is a device used to communication between two different networks. 2-Type of router: 1-software router - Software router present the operating system . - depend on the NIC card - Easy defect by virus or hacking 2-hardware router: -physical devices -depend on series interface. -not easy defeat by virus or hacking. Routing It is process of sending the data packets through the best path to reach the destination. Type of routing : 1-Static routing : the information has to be manually configure by the administrator . 2.dynamic routing : use ip routing protocol (RIP ,OSPF,etc…) There are 2 example of configuration router :- (OS server should install in routers ) Example one:Using one router:How to configure one router: Pc1 Ip address 10.0.0.2 255.0.0.0 DG 10.0.0.1 R1 Ip address(NIC1) 10.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 ip address(NIC2) 20.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 Pc2 ip address 20.0.0.2 255.0.0.0 DG 20.0.0.1
  • 2. Go to R1 :Start->programs->administration tools->Open routing &remote access - right click system name - select configure & enable routing & remote access -> next - next -> select custom configuration -> next ->
  • 3. [√ ] lan routing -> next -> finish.
  • 4. - click yes in the message. No you can make communication between pc 1 and pc 2

  • 8. Open RRAS (routing and remote access) - right click static remote -> select new static remote -> interface - ----- > 11.0.0.1 -> Destination - ----- > 12.0.0.0 -> Network mask - ----- > 255.0.0.0 -> Default gateway - ----- > 11.0.0.2
  • 9. Go to R2 :Start->programs->administration tools->Open routing &remote access - right click system name - select configure & enable routing & remote access -> next - next -> select custom configuration -> next ->
  • 10. [√ ] LAN routing -> next -> Finish. - click yes in the message.
  • 11. - in R2 Open RRAS (Routing and Remote Access) - right click static remote -> select new static remote -> interface - ----- > 11.0.0.2 -> Destination - ----- > 10.0.0.0 -> Network mask - ----- > 255.0.0.0 -> Default gateway - ----- > 11.0.0.1 Now you can make communication between pc1 and pc2

  • 16. -R/C in (RIP) select New interface and add(all interface) - finish Go to R2 :Start->programs->administration tools->Open routing &remote access
  • 17. - right click system name - select configure & enable routing & remote access -> next - next -> select custom configuration -> next -> [√ ] lan routing -> next
  • 18. -> finish. - click yes in the message.
  • 19. Open RRAS (routing and remote access) - R/C in general and select new routing protocols - select RIP protocols Ok
  • 20. -R/C in (RIP) select New interface and add(all interface) - finish - now you can make communication between pc1 and pc2 Configure NAT server. (R1): -in R1 ->open RRAS -> right click on NAT and basic firewall-> select new interface -> select 10.0.0.1 as private -> ok. select 11.0.0.1 as public and check [√] enable NAT -> ok.

A DHCP Relay agent is a computer or router that listens for DHCP Broadcasts from DHCP clients and then relays those messages to DHCP Servers. -How a DHCP Relay A (Configure DHCP scope) Pc1 Ip address 10.0.0.2 255.0.0.0 DG 10.0.0.1 DNS10.0.0.2 R1 Ip address(NIC1) 10.0.0.1 255.0.0. ip address(NIC2) 20.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 Pc2 ip address obtain Steps: PC1(dhcp server ): 1- configure DHCP server and add scope(form 12.0.0.0 range) in scope give router IP as 12.0.0.1 (R1): 2-Open RRAS ->right click general -> select New routing protocol –

  • 23. add DHCP server IP (IE) 10.0.0.2 -> ok pc2: 3-Obtain ip automatically open cmd prompt -> ipconfig/release Ipconfig/renew 4- ping 10.0.0.2 reply
