  2. 2. WHAT IS NANOTECHNOLOGY? Nanotechnology is the design , characteristics, production and application of structures, devices and systems by controlling shape and size at nanometric scale.
  3. 3. Nanotechnology in construction: The construction business will inevitably be a beneficiary of this nanotechnology. In fact it already is in the fields of concrete, steel, glass and many more. Concrete is stronger, more durable and more easily laced; Steel is made tougher; Glass is self-cleaning. Pains are made more insulating and water repelling.

NANOTECHNOLOGY IN CONCRETEConcrete is a mixture of cement, sand (fine aggregate ) coarse aggregate and water As concrete is most usable material in construction in Industry it’s been require to improve its quality. The mechanical behavior of concrete materials depends on phenomena that occur on a micro and a Nano scale.

Bulk properties Mechanical performance, Volume stability, Durability, Sustainability of concrete  Nanotechnology can: modify the molecular structure of concrete material to improve the material’s properties as shown in the chart.  Nano-concrete is defined as “A concrete made with Portland cement particles that are less than 500 Nano-meters as the cementing agent“.

Need For Nanotechnology In Steel..  fatigue is a significant issue that can lead to the structural failure of steel subject to cyclic loading, such as in bridges or towers. This can happen at stresses significantly lower than the yield stress of the material and lead to significant shortening of useful life of the structure. Advancements in this technology would lead to increased safety, less need for monitoring and more efficient materials use in construction prone to fatigue issues.

Definition of Nano science: Nano science is an emerging area of science which concerns itself with the study of materials that have very, very small dimensions. It can’t really be called chemistry, physics or biology; all sorts of scientists are studying very small things in order to better understand our would.

VERTICAL SCIENCE & ENGINEERING DISCIPLINES Nano science is an interdisciplinary science which means that it involves concepts of more than one discipline, such as chemistry, physics, etc. there are other disciplines that are inherently interdisciplinary, like materials science and engineering which cover at the same time concepts of chemistry and physics.
