Intel vs AMD Processor Comparison - Why Intel Is The Winner

  1. 1. Intel vs AMD Processor Comparison - Why Intel Is The WinnerBy Bob ShantassySome people like myself are very loyal customers. When we buy a product,we tend to stick with it no matter rain or shine. I have been a loyal customerof AMD until recently when I decided to build my own gaming computer. SoI thought to myself – why not re-evaluate everything. As such I decided tomake an Intel vs AMD processor comparison to find out which is theprocessor that gives me the best value for my money. In my search on the Intel vs AMD processor comparison, I found out that avery large majority of customers found that the Intel Core i5 2500k to be avery good processor- especially if you are into over clocking.I would like to share with you what these previous owners of the AMDprocessors thought of their processor when they had an actual experiencewith the Intel vs AMD processor comparisons on the following pages: Page 1 of 6
  2. 2. 5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice, January 27, 2011By R. MizuharaI would like to start by saying that if youre wondering whether to get this, just get it! I have mine at 4.5ghz stable with my hyper 212+ cooler. I canprobably go higher, but i really have no need for it. Im using an asus p8p67board and its great! i had some boot problems at first, but then i flashed mybios and everythings running fast and smooth!my processor idles at at about 16-25 degrees Celsius and on full load, goesup to only about 55 degrees. This processor is one of the fastest that are available at the moment. For$200-$250, i definitely recommend any of the new i5 cores from intel. Theysave energy and runs fairly cool while giving you optimal performance.5.0 out of 5 stars Good choice at reasonable price, February 7, 2011By jxThis is coming from a long-term AMD user, and this particular chip, althoughspectacular in its own right, will not convert me completely (waiting for AMDBulldozer architecture to show its teeth, hopefully very soon). Im glad I didthe switch though, and the choice to do so was the price vs performancefactor, finally Intel gives you a reasonable choice for, well, not THAT MUCHmoney spent:)I switched from Phenom II 940 system to this and the difference on desktopuse level is very noticeable, Im kinda surprised - expected little to noneactual increase in performance. Everything is snappy and fluid. Overlockingthis thing to 4.5 rock stable 24/7, gaming and benchmarking, well, isanother story altogether:) significant increase in Crysis performance (theonly game Ive tested so far) with GTX570, about 15-20 FPS increaseactually. Exactly what I was aiming for. Planning to take this further to4.8Ghz, could be a challenge with my current cooler (CM Hyper N520), butsince 4.5 is very easily achieved = another satisfied customer here:)So if youre planning to take the plunge, well, depends on the level whereyoure coming from. I guess current AMD Phenom X6 or Intel i7/i5 userswont find anything breathtaking.Anyway, a solid chip for a reasonable price, MBs are priced right too (if youcan find them due to recent recall debacle), and a good choice to keep yourgaming needs satisfied, well, until the end of this year, for sure! 3. 3. 5.0 out of 5 stars The chip that lured me back from AMD, May 26, 2011By S. Pehrson "Inglo" (San Francisco)OK, there have been a lot of Intel CPUs that have blown away AMDs for thelast few years but this was the one I finally got that ended my 13 yearsusing AMD processors. Its not to expensive and it overclocks to 4.0 GHzwithout even trying. If I was more adventurous I could probably get up to4.5 GHz. Ive seen one guy who was pushing 5.0 GHz.5.0 out of 5 stars FAST!!, November 16, 2011By Cody JohnsonI love this CPU. I upgraded from a Core 2 Quad Q9550 and holy cow, what ahuge difference. I loved my C2Q, but this really does blow it out of thewater. Everything is just so snappy! I am using this with an Intel H67motherboard. Dont try and rip me apart about using this with H67 chipset, Ialready know. I didnt get this to overclock, I got this because it has built-inIntel HD graphics 3000 instead of HD 2000 that the non-k has. I will not beusing a dedicated GPU so I wanted the most out of the integrated graphics. Also, the stock cooler doesnt do terrible. It stays at about 35 degreesCelsius. You cant really going wrong with this CPU. Its low cost, high reliability, andawesome overclockingness makes this a no-brainer. I would recommend thisover any AMD CPU.5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it, January 9, 2012By WarriorSpiritBlazing fast CPU , runs any game i can throw at it, practically TRIPLED myFPS from my Old AMD Athlon5.0 out of 5 stars AMD convert, March 19, 2012By firelife101I must start off by saying that I have run nothing but AMD processors for thelast 10 years in each one of my setups. This processor had high reviewsfrom all of my peers while I received nothing but negative reviews from theAMD counterparts. I decided to give it a try and spend the extra money togo with this processor. I am glad I did. While the base setup of this Page 3 of 6
  4. 4. processor is nice and runs everything smoothly, I decided to overclock it atad bit. Most of the new boards do come with an auto overclock option so Ienabled it.This change made this processor run at a stable 4.0. Ive tried to bog itdown by running a minecraft server and clients on the same machine, butthis processor takes it like a champ and seems to ask for more. I couldnt behappier. All of the games I throw at it run amazing and the cpu processalarm on my antivirus hasnt gone off once since I changed over. I admitthat I am in awe of what this processor can do and may just stay an intel fanif they produce chips like this in the future.5.0 out of 5 stars Wicked Fast!!, April 9, 2011By D. Wargo "Spartan"I only have good things to say about this processor. I am coming from aAMD Athalon X2 4800+ and this Intel CPU gave my old computer a righteouskick in the pants. Not only is it faster, it optimized the processes I use sothat they run smoother and quicker. Before I overclocked this CPU I transcoded some movies and it cut my oldbest time by 300% or more what used to take me 2 hours takes 18mins!!Then I decided to see what I could do overclocking this thing and I have itrunning stable @ 4.6GHz!! I never thought that would be possible on aircooling but it really is. I paired this CPU with a Hyper 212+ and it is WickedFast! If you have the ability and are ready for something new this is the ONETO GET! I even recommend this to others over the i7 Sandy bridge mainlybecause most people will never need the HT on the i7.5.0 out of 5 stars WARNING! Explosive Processor, April 22, 2011By Desolator2100WARNING! Using this processor will put a permanent grin on your face whileeverything you throw at it Explodes with speed! :DHonestly I was stuck between this and the 2600k i7.. but decided to go withthis i5 in the end and invest the extra $100 bucks that I would havenormally spent on the i7 on better cooling and 8GB of RAM. Im sure the i7is faster with heavy processor based applications such as photoshop or videoediting software with hyperthreading, but keep in mind this i5 is no pushover! Page 4 of 6
  5. 5. Im a photographer which means I utilize image editing software on aregular basis and I also dabble with video editing. I can see the Processorhesitate on certain aspects during editing, such as selecting large amountsof text and stuttering when selecting a large area on pictures, however theseare all SMALL inconveniences when seeing all the other things this processorcan do flawlessly.Gaming is EXCELLENT with this bad boy, Im running it in conjunction with aXFX Radeon 5670 by itself and Dragon Age Origins on Maximum settingswith no issues whatsoever, never a hint of lag!I havent overclocked mine yet since its already performing beautifully at3.3GHz but Ive read multiple people pushing this thing over 4GHz without aproblem. Now only thing you gotta do is stop reading this and just go up and order it,you seriously cant go wrong with this, and if you were considering the AMD6 core Phenom, change your mind like I did because this thing whoops theAMD in any benchmark test out there, google it.5.0 out of 5 stars No word can describe it, so I will use a paragraphinstead......, July 3, 2011By Juan Ramirez-Gonzalez "Dude" (Long Beach, Ca)Absolutely the best processor I have ever owned, overclocking is insane, itsseems it can go as high as the sky, the only draw back being more intensecooling being needed, regardless, this puppy overclocks like its never heardof the term unstable, anyone can overcloack this to 4.2ghz without a hassle, more experienced overclockers can reach 4.8 without a problem, it seemsthis processor is ahead of the competition by at least a generation, this CPUhas not been able to bottleneck yet, it commands my two 570;s with easeand pushes them at a constant 99%, I decided it was time for an upgrade, ihad a q8400 at 3.4, i said meh, wont be much of a difference right? 3.4 to3.7? oh man, thankfully i was so wrong........ just get it, don’t decidebetween CPU;s, this one is def. the best CPU for the price hands down, as aside note *at stock clocks it out paces a AMD 1090 six core by at least 20%talk about build quality.Once I went into the journey to make the Intel vs AMD processorcomparison, I found that the Intel Core i5 2500k to be a processor that givesyou the best value for money.
