Comission for prevention of drug addictions
This commission is responsible for :
Drug awareness campaigns;
Information about drugs and related issues;
Prevention and reduction of drugs abuses ;
Detection and follow-up of drug users;
Promotion of health in general at clinical and sanitary level;

This commission is one of 12 institutions dealing with cases of risky behaviours:
Police department;
Social security;
The Portuguese Red Cross;
IDT – Institute on Drugs and Drug Addiction

This commission is responsible for
the definition, implementation and monitoring of policies and strategies in the field of Social Reintegration of people consuming psychoactive substances, basing its intervention on humanism principles and centered on the citizen.
Developing projects at local level centered on prevention campaigns.

Project “SOLIS”
Solis is about social inclusion and social reintegration – this Project ended last year and had positive results
- To ensure comprehensiveness and coordination of the rehabilitation resources in all aspects of the individual´s life, in order to develop responsible life projects;

Project “Riscos calculados”
Prevention and action in drug consumption and drug related issues:
Technical training;
Psychopedagogical support to students aged 8 to 15 in a preventive approach;
Campaigns in schools and among families and younsters at risk;
Prevention campaigns among parents and teachers.

Project “Trapézio com rede”
A set of measures aiming at the reintegration of drug users:
Psycho-social support in quitting addiction;
Social and professional reintegration, providing basic skills in hygiene and social values;
support in rehabilitation, until the individual as reacquired autonomy and stability and is integrated as citizen;

Project – Healthy Generations
Extensive study on Addictive Substances among 9th grade students of all the schools of the municipality:
905 students surveyed
16 basic and secondary education students

Security and police department

“ Escola Segura” – Safe school is a Programme on a national scale.
There are 228 military agents involved in the Programme.

At our school:
Two police officers who make a constant surveillance of the school area;
Detect and intervene in the detention of alledged drug users or dealers;
Confidential data – require formal authorisation

Their role is
Preventing and diagnosing safety problems
Implementing safety measures
Raising people’s awareness about the problems of addictions
Approaching students, parents, teachers and other school staff and appealing for the use of adequate preventive measures in order to make schools safer and eventually free from drugs.
