FAQs
  • What type of mobile phones can run the SlideShare mobile site?

The SlideShare mobile site works on all smart phones- Iphone (Ipod Touch also), Blackberry, Nokia high end phones (E series), HTC, Google Android phones, I-mate, HP iPaq, Palm, all phones running Windows mobile etc. Apart from smart phones, it works on any phone capable of running the Opera Mini browser (most mobile phones made after 2001 irrespective of the brand, model or operating system can run Opera Mini).

What this effectively means- The SlideShare mobile site can work on almost all mobile phones with a browser.

N.B. This is an experimental site from our development labs. If you face any problems, please email us ( mentioning your phone model & browser) and we'll try to resolve the issue.

  • How can I use SlideShare on my mobile phone? Do I need to download anything?

No, you do not need to download anything. Just point your mobile browser to http://m.slideshare.com. (if you get the message as explained below, you might need to download the Opera Mini browser though)

  • What is Opera Mini? Is it safe to use? How can I download it?

Opera Mini is the world's most popular mobile phone browser (see stats). It is a really fast browser, free to use, cross platform and hence compatible with most mobile phones made after 2001 (irrespective of the brand, model or operating system). To know whether your mobile phone supports Opera Mini, go here.

Rest assured, Opera Mini is safe to use. In fact, Opera Mini is good to have on your mobile (whether or not you use the SlideShare mobile site).

To download Opera Mini, access http://m.slideshare.com on your mobile's default browser; you will get the download link. If this is giving problems, visit Opera's website here for the downloading instructions.

  • On viewing the site, I get a message "For best experience, please update your phone. Install Opera Mini browser. Install Yahoo! Go".

The SlideShare mobile site works on all smart phones AND/OR on all phones that have Opera Mini installed (whether smart or not). If you see the above message, you are probably not on a smart phone and its likely that your phone doesn't have Opera Mini.

Download Opera Mini, install it and you should be ready to go.

  • I have Opera on my mobile but I am still getting the download Opera Mini message?

You probably have the Opera generic browser on your mobile (many cellphones sell with preinstalled versions of that). The Opera Mini is actually different from the generic Opera browser (its also much better). Just install Opera Mini and you are ready to go.

  • Can I upload to SlideShare from my mobile phone?

No, you can't upload files from your mobile phone to SlideShare. You'll need to do that from a regular computer.

  • What are the different things that I can do on the SlideShare mobile site?

    On SlideShare mobile, you can:

    - view presentations- latest, featured & popular
    - navigate the presentation using the slide thumbnails
    - download presentation files on your mobile
    - login into your SlideShare account
    - check out latest from contacts, favorite presentations etc
    - search through all SlideShare presentations
    - send us feedback about any problems you faced

If you want to check out the mobile site from your computer, just access http://m.sldieshare.com from your browser.

  • Using the mobile site, can I login into my regular SlideShare account? Or is this a separate account?

It is the same account- you can log into it from your computer or from the mobile.

  • Why can't I see comments on presentations?

To keep the website simple and quick loading, we are not displaying comments, notes etc. These features may be added in a later version of the site.

  • On viewing a slideshow, I got this message "Getting ready for the mobile, please refresh in a minute."

We are optimising our slideshows so that they load quickly on the mobile. You might see this message once in a while. Worry not! Just refresh the page in a few moments and the slideshow will work fine.
