OHS Distance Learning AASLH[1] - Presentation Transcript

    1. Ohio Historical Society Distance Learning Program Presenter: Mike Follin, Ohio Historical Society, mfollin@ohiohistory.org Brief Overview of the Ohio Historical Society Distance Learning Program The Ohio Historical Society’s distance learning programming was begun in the late 1980’s with a directive from the Governor of the state. Ohio education was moving into the electronic phase of the future and all schools were to be “wired” with this new technology. The Ohio Historical Society was selected as one of the primary content providers for this endeavor. The first formal presentations took place between the Ohio Historical Society complex and the State Exhibition Center during the state fair. Fair goers could actually interact with presenters at the Ohio Historical Society complex via interactive television. With this initial demonstration a new dimension of programming had begun at the Ohio Historical Society.
