Chemical/Physical Change PowerPoint Tara Polk 9/18/09 2nd Period
Definitions Physical Change- A change in matter which does not alter the chemical properties of the matter. Chemical Change- A rearrangement of the atomic array of matter which results in a change of physical properties.
Chemical Change An example of a chemical change would be cleaning a penny, because the vinegar and salt cause a chemical reaction in the penny, which strips the dirt and rust off of the penny.
Physical Change An example would be, if you carve a piece of wood into a baseball bat. It would be a physical change because the wood is only changing size & shape, a new substance is not created.
