  3. 3. General Facts<br />Used to help fall asleep or maintaining sleep<br />These drugs are often referred to as sleeping pills<br />
  4. 4. Effect<br /><ul><li>Helps you calm down, relax, and be sleepy</li></ul>Drugs that slow down the bodies functions<br />
  5. 5. Effect<br />Gives you headaches, nervousness, unconsciousness, confusion, weakness, and lack of concentration <br />
  6. 6. Effect<br />More effects are chest pains, nightmares and dreaming, and many more including death!<br />
  7. 7. Facts<br />Most doctors don’t prescribe it because it is so addictive<br />In 2007 a reported 63,729 people used hypnotics, 24 resulted in deaths.<br />
  8. 8. FACTS<br />Most people deliberately abuse hypnotics for suicidal reasons<br />You become tolerant to hypnotics which is dangerous because you might take a little at a time and then you have to take more and more until your dependent and addicted<br />
  9. 9. Facts<br />Drinking when taking hypnotics can put you in a coma or can cause death<br />Drugs cause CNS depression which alcohol can cause CNS depression and the signs are the same<br />
  10. 10. Story<br />Michael Jackson received demerol or another form of hypnotics to help him sleep. It is still unanswered if that killed him, but it could possibly cause cardiac arrest which is what he died from. Even superstars can die from things that some would think are trivial and little. Nobody in the world can be too careful not to die.<br />
