  2. 2. Brief Overview<br />No experience needed to play.<br />Show of hands who knows the basic rules about ice hockey?<br />Rules and Penalties<br />Equipment and teams.<br />Court <br />Fun, relaxed, and active.<br />Little difference between ice and floor.<br />
  3. 3. Experience<br />You are not required to have prior experience.<br />Same concept and rules as ice hockey.<br />In your gymnasium.<br />Everyone can play.<br />Gender doesn’t matter.<br />Athletic ability will increase.<br />Along with knowledge.<br />
  4. 4. Rules<br />Game starts with the drop of a ball/puck.<br />Sticks stay below the waste.<br />No tripping<br />Slashing<br />Hitting<br />Penalties will be assessed. (no more then 2)<br />No off sides, except at the faceoff.<br />
  5. 5. Rules cont.<br />Period length. (class length)<br />Three 12 minute periods. <br />Penalties assed for infractions.<br />2 minute penalties.<br />If 3 people penalized still have 3 on court.<br />

Rules cont.<br />Proper positioning at face-off.<br />Only offside is at face-offs.<br />Center ice or (5 designated for gym)<br />Like soccer and basketball.<br />Center lined up across from opponent Center.<br />Right wing on opponent left and vice versa.<br />Defense back behind forwards.<br />

  9. 9. Teams<br />2 teams.<br />Split class in half.<br />6 players (1 goalie, 2 defense, 3 forwards)<br />Left wing, Center, Right wing.<br />Left D, Right D.<br />Defend one end.<br />Score at the other end.<br />
