  • 2. Firsts Chapters
    In the first chapters it talk about the pre history Spaniards and Native Americans.
    How the conquistadores conquer most part of the Americas.
    Mexico gains its independence in 1821.
  • 3. The Great Migration
    What motivated the Mexican migration into the United States is that, Mexicans were hoping to find a better future and accomplish all dreams.
    The exploitation Mexican immigrants suffered in industry and agriculture was galling, but the options for the workers were forced to endure indignities in silence.
  • 4. The Chicano Movement
       The Chicano movement was a cultural as well as a political movement, helping to construct new, transnational cultural identities and fueling a renaissance in politically charged visual, literary, and performance art.
    Following the lead of the African American community, which initiated a far-reaching movement for civil liberties in the fifties, many Mexicanos, now calling themselves Chicanos or Chicanas, embarked on their own campaign to improve socioeconomic conditions and win full recognition of their rights as U.S citizens.
